Spring is finally here and it will soon be warm enough to shed all those layers and get back into outfits that show some skin. Unfortunately, throughout these long cold months your skin has probably lost its sun-kissed glow and needs a little boost. Please do not run to the nearest tanning salon. Tanning beds are extremely dangerous and should be avoided. However, there is a plethora of excellent products out there that will give your skin a gorgeous glow without all the harmful side effects of a tanning bed.
Starting off with bronzers, you can opt for one that is matte or shimmering powder, or gel based. Bronzers can be used on all skin types and are generally used on the face and neck to warm up the complexion. Powder bronzers should be applied using a large, flat brush to all spots that the sun would naturally shine - the forehead, cheeks, chin and nose. Gel is a little bit harder to apply but can be corrected simply. To apply gel, use your fingers and dab on to cheeks, forehead, nose, neck, and chin and lip area. Do not forget to also apply to neck and ear area to ensure that you are all one colour. Keep in mind that because gel is a bit more difficult to use, apply a small amount initially and add more if needed.
For radiant skin all over your body, try a self-tanner. Self-tanners are available in gel, cream or spray formulas. It is very important to prepare you skin before application. It is best to exfoliate the skin focusing on rough patches such as the knee and elbows. Next, apply a light and even layer of self-tanner. Be sure to apply from head to toe, with fingers tightly closed, to avoid streaking. After applying, scrub your hands with soap and water so that your palms do not turn dark. Allow your skin approximately ten minutes or more to soak up the product before dressing.
And there you have it, simple and harmless ways of getting some radiance back into your skin. Get glowing, gorgeous!
