You’re busy. You’re tired. The laundry needs to be done and the kids haven’t yet brushed their teeth. The everyday grind isn’t exactly glamorous and keeping your cool can be an extra item on your already giant (and, let’s face it, constantly growing) To-Do list.
With snow already hitting the ground and full holiday mode about to kick in, Women’s Post held our latest Courage to Lead: Blissful Bits event on Wednesday, with Kathy Buckworth (author, Shut Up and Eat!) and Gloria MacDonald (Perfect Partners) as speakers. The two lovely ladies shelled out some great advice on how to fit bits of bliss into your life as the new year approaches.
For anyone who missed them, here are some tidbits that we tweeted out from the event:
When we don't know how to say "no," we're doing others a huge disservice. –Gloria MacDonald
Write those goals down! It helps you focus. Write no more than six. –Gloria MacDonald
Check your goals before you say “yes” to a project. You can’t keep saying “yes” without looking at what you give up in turn. –Kathy Buckworth
Here’s a good one: Keep a holiday spreadsheet. –Kathy Buckworth
Work on two to three different goals at a time. They can be simple goals, from laundry to finishing a chapter in a book. –Kathy Buckworth
Write down tasks. It helps you to stay focused and it helps others see that you're focused. –Kathy Buckworth
