Okay, we need to talk…spring is around the corner and your make-up, well, it needs a makeover. It’s time to do a little spring cleaning, ditch the boring muted colours you have been wearing all winter, and have a little fun with your look. It’s time to add some colour and freshen up your face.
First up – the bold lip! This look enables you to go soft and simple everywhere on your face and play up your lips. As seen at Fendi, Gucci and Milly’s spring shows, makeup artists used amplified shades of fuchsia, orange and coral while keeping the eyes and the rest of the face neutral and fresh. Some great shades to try are: MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in So Chaud, Girl About Town and Vegas Volt.

Next we have loud lids! Ok, so let’s say you are not fan of bold lips and would prefer to draw attention to your already beautiful eyes – try adding a splash of colour. Yes, I said COLOUR, as in bright bold colour. Think of your usual smoky eye, but with, let’s say blue, purple or green. Start the look off by using an eye shadow primer like Urban Decay Primer Potion – there is nothing worse than creased eye shadow – after prepping your lids dust on a wash of gorgeous colour. If the thought of having your lids covered entirely in bright eye shadow is too much for you, try taking baby steps and drawing on a thick line of eyeliner instead. It'll ease you into the look. Go wild with these incredible shades: NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Celebrate and Palladium or NARS Eye Shadow in Daphne and Mangrove.

This next trend is for those of you who are colour shy and not ready to embrace all of the boldness – a fresh face with a natural flush. Sounds simple, right? All you need to do is slather on some second skin foundation, conceal any pesky flaws, dust on some matte bronzer, sculpt your cheeks, apply a few coats of your favourite mascara and voila – you have achieved the “no-makeup make up” look. If you want to add a little sparkle to your lids, try patting on a metallic shadow which will glow beautifully with your natural canvas. My favourites are MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Retrospeck and NARS Eye Shadow in Silent Night.

Is there a way to make lengthening mascara look more natural also?
