So You Don’t Like The Gym, Huh? – Part 2

by B.A. Dobson

If you read Part 1of this article and weren’t inspired to get moving after perusing the list of fat-busting outdoor activities, don’t fret. I’ve got a few more suggestions to help the gym-gets-absolutely-no-love-from-me crowd shape up while basking in the rays of the summer sun…

Head Courtside: Need a little practice to perfect your serve? Then hit the courts. A tennis match is a great way to work up a sweat, while skimming the fat off your arms, shoulders and back muscles. Plus, it’s loads of fun to boot.

Push those Pedals: Much like rollerblading, cycling allows you to be outside, cover a whole lot of distance in a relatively short time and expend plenty of calories. And as you pedal your way fit you’ll be tightening your legs, hips, and butt.

Get Tee'd Off: Hitting the greens for a round of golf – especially if you ditch the golf cart and carry your own clubs – isn’t just a good form of exercise; it also affords you some time to socialize. What’s more with each swing of your club, you’ll be toning up your arms, abs, back, and shoulders.

Saddle Up: Want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living, and also get a good workout in? Then try horseback riding through a park or on a farm. Also, if you’re looking to firm up that pesky inner thigh and butt flab, spending an afternoon gripping the saddle with your legs as you ride along will go a long way to helping you reach your goal.

Become a Disc Throwin’ Diva: Tossing a Frisbee around with friends helps to reshape your chest, arms, shoulders, abs, and legs. And the best part is the equipment is cheap and you can do it almost anywhere. Bonus.

Get Your Sea Legs: Learn to sail. Sailing is another highly social activity that burns a lot of calories. After a few hours out on the open seas – or in a pinch a lake on a windy day – you’re bound to feel the burn in your legs, arms, shoulders and abs.

So, there you have it folks, a dozen gym-free outdoor workouts, that will help you get your sexy back in no time.

Til next time,

Stay Active!
