Trish Magwood: Homegrown dish

Trish Magwood

By Wendy Robertson

Trish Magwood is a number of things to a community of food enthusiasts. Her audiences trust her because she stays true to the idea of loving the uncomplicated food experience. As founder of Dish Cooking Studio in Toronto, host of Party Dish on Canada’s Food Network, and as frequent newsmaker, she has lots of opportunity.

Trish is now introducing the food experience into more occasions – no matter what your credentials – with the first Edition of Dish Entertains, published by Harper Collins, hitting the bookstores. It is what Trish refers to as “everything that I’ve learned and love about food.” The book has eight years of Dish Cooking Studio as a proving ground, and a lifetime of experience with family influences and mentors.

Trish states there are two important ideas for the book. “A visual connection with the food experience with 60 exceptional views” and “simple food ideas divided into what works best for everyday and what works best for entertaining.”

Among Trish’s other influences are her mother and grandmother. What these two women have handed down over the years are not simply the recipes but the full appreciation for the experience of food. It’s a lesson Trish hopes to inspire with Dish Entertains.
