Twitter’s logo may be blue, but the following women are keeping their tweets green.

@ecofashionista (Kelly Drennan)
Kelly Drennan is dedicated to making the fashion industry greener. She has over 12 years of experience working in PR, event planning, and media. Lindsay is considered a green event planner, helping produce and handle PR for events such as the Green Gala (Canada’s greenest fashion event), the Green Business Strategy Summit, and the Eco Wedding & Lifestyle Show. She is a public speaker, participating in events such as Sustainable Fashion 101 and R4 Fashion, as well as holding talks about being eco-friendly at colleges and universities including Ryerson and George Brown. Kelly is the founder of the non-profit organization, Fashion Takes Action, aiming to make the fashion industry more environmentally-conscious. Kelly also works as the local ambassador of EthicalDeal Toronto, helping green businesses promote themselves to consumers.  Additionally, she’s the green columnist for Trends Magazine and the contributing fashion editor for Eco Salon. Kelly’s Twitter feed is full of green facts, tips, and articles. She lets followers know which stores offer eco-friendly alternatives for products and which online green stores are having sales. Kelly also tweets about the progress the fashion industry is making in becoming greener.

@EkoBearToys (Linda Peters)
Linda Peters and her husband wanted to provide their children with an eco-friendly environment so that being green was instinctive to them. So, when Linda went shopping for her son’s third birthday, she wanted to buy him an eco-friendly toy. When she got fed up with her lack of options in stores, she turned to the Internet. Unfortunately, most of the sites selling eco-friendly toys were located in the States and wouldn’t specify how the products were green. Linda eventually stumbled upon Green Toys and found out all the company’s toys were made from recycled milk jugs. Green Toys gave her a great idea.  She started Eko Bear, a Canadian online store selling eco-friendly toys – including biodegradable toys and toys made from recycled materials. The website also explains what makes each product green so shoppers don’t have to go searching for information about brands. Linda uses her Twitter account to advertise sales and products on her website. She also tweets giveaways, contests, and eco-friendly events while keeping her followers in the know about green products with her retweets.

@DavidSuzukiQoG (Lindsay Coulter)
Lindsay Coulter has loved animals all her life. She originally wanted to be a veterinarian, but when she found out she would have to put some animals to sleep as part of the job, she changed her mind. After graduating from the University of Alberta with a degree in zoology in 1999, Lindsay worked on wildlife and conservation issues until she joined the David Suzuki Foundation in 2006. Two years later, she became the Foundation’s Queen of Green, shooting videos on how to make your life greener. In 2009, the Foundation upgraded its website and Lindsay launched the Queen of Green blog, writing tips and recipes that make green living simple. She also writes a weekly column for Metro News and owns a small business of homemade green cleaning products and cosmetics. Lindsay tweets tips and articles about becoming more eco-friendly. She also tweets and retweets tips for getting more people involved in green initiatives by doing things like holding clothing swaps and soup parties. You can also find out the latest environmental and animal news by reading her tweets.
