Who Says You Can't Teach An Old Dog New Tricks?

So the new WP site is up and running in its (for all intents and purposes) full form. We will be working through the kinks and issues over the next little while, so bear with us. We couldn't be happier with the look. It's sleek, modern, and much more reflective of our readers and contributors. All in all, we done good!

This project was not an easy one. We had a site with over eight years of content, over 1000 articles, a couple hundred image galleries, videos, podcasts, etc etc etc. Add to that archives and a community over 2000 users, and it becomes a huge undertaking. I had the easy part: Make it look pretty. I started with wireframes, moved to blocked out mockups, and gave my programmer my finalized PDFs and said "Here ya go. Make it happen." Throughout the past couple of months, he worked tirelessly to give me what I wanted. And I wanted a lot. I wanted a site that was as visually rich as the years of content on it. Some difficult executive decisions were made, and there is a lot of work ahead for me and my staff (yes, in case you didn't know it interns, you shall be abused in the next couple weeks.) But we can take some deep breaths.

I want to thank profusely our newest programmer who took on this project and worked till the wee hours of the morning daily to make my designs a reality: Laszlo Elo of Thirty Seven Interactive. You are a programmer of the highest calibre, exceedingly patient, and never said "no." ("Eff you," at times, but never "no.") Thank you for mining through the rat's nest that was our previous site, and giving us and our viewers a site that is so deserved. You rock.

Women's Post is moving in some great new directions. We are not content to stagnate and rest on our laurels. No, we want to start pushing boundaries and keep up a steady evolution. So bookmark us, talk to us on Twitter or Facebook, send us an email, and keep up-to-date with everything Women's Post. Hopefully, we'll have a few more tricks up our sleeves that'll surprise you. Stay tuned...
