I'm a "Gleek"

October 24, 2009 - 10:55pm — by Amanda-Marie Quintino

I've been called a lot of things... and now "Gleek" is just another one of them.

But "Gleek" is a name I can definitely handle. I'm all geeked out for Glee. So at least the name stands true. I'm that fan that even takes quizzes to find out which character she most relates to. Oh yeah, and all of the cast members are my friends on Facebook. And I'm even following them on Twitter. Seriously. It's cheezy, but I have no problem admitting to it because hey, I'm not the only one jumping on this musical television bandwagon.

Wild, Wild (Kanye) West

October 20, 2009 - 11:53am — by Amanda-Marie Quintino

And just when we thought Kanye West couldn't be any more of, as U.S. President Barack Obama so aptly put it, "a jackass," he proves the general public wrong.

In the spirit of Spike Jonze's latest release on the big screen, an adaptation of Maurice Sendak's children's book "Where the Wild Things Are," West got a little wild himself and enlisted the help of Jonze to make a very in-your-face point to fans and foes alike.

Get some rest and drink plenty of fluids

October 18, 2009 - 9:09pm — by Amanda-Marie Quintino

That's what the doctor ordered. And for the past week or so, this has been my life. Except, unfortunately, I've had to throw work into that mix too, what with the bills to pay and all.

And I'm blogging about it because I know it's that time of year -- when the temperature changes and our bodies react and we get all sniffly and coughy and achy. Whether it's a cold, the flu (let's hope not swine), strep throat or a sinus infection (that's my ailment right now), being sick sucks.

A walk a day keeps the doctor away

October 16, 2009 - 12:20pm — by Amanda-Marie Quintino

Believe it or not, taking a few steps in your own shoes could actually mean the difference between having or not having that extra visit to your physician.

Walking is healthy. And although it may not seem so, it's exercise. My mother, a registered holistic nutritionist, often tells me that people always neglect the simple things in life that can keep us healthy and over-think exercise, thinking that results only come from super strenuous workout regiments.

Do as Mama tells you and you'll do just fine, CNN reports

October 14, 2009 - 10:21pm — by Amanda-Marie Quintino

So I've been sitting on this for a while, running through some tips I'd give my (knock on wood, yes I'm suspicious) future son if I so happen to mother one, and I came to the confident conclusion that CNN really did cover all of the bases.

You see, last month CNN published an article outlining 18 essential things a mother should tell her son about women. It's an interesting topic for sure, but the first thing I thought was "18?! That's sort of a random number." And that's when I did some soul-searching for possible additions, and as mentioned earlier, came up empty.

Tween tweeterbug quits Twitter

October 13, 2009 - 10:36pm — by Amanda-Marie Quintino

Attention all Twits: Miley Cyrus is calling it quits.

And she's doing it in rapping, rhyming style, too.

A week or so ago, Miley's "No More Twitter" rap hit YouTube and it's been getting lots and lots of attention. Which I suppose is what she was going for. She wanted to make a statement. And she did -- a very creative and of course cheezy one at that. Not to mention a tad weird but hey, it most definitely caught my attention.

The last time I checked, it was actually on YouTube's home page for one of the site's most viewed videos.

Vampires step into the spotlight

October 13, 2009 - 1:48am — by Amanda-Marie Quintino

And good thing they're just fictional, or else, with all of this attention they've been getting, they'd get burned. What with all of the red carpet premieres and the interviews and autograph sessions, they need to be out and about in the light of day.

So move over wizards, werewolves, and witches, vampires are the cool kids on the supernatural block as of late.
