I JUST GOT DISSED

I just got dissed or as the dictionary defines it, someone was ‘purposely rude’ to me. Yeah Baby, you heard it here first. Last Saturday afternoon my Blackberry buzzed and since I recognized the sender, I naturally opened the message. It was a lovely description of an upcoming fundraiser for a worthwhile cause. The sender closed with a warm invitation for me and my spouse to join her for the event as her guests. There was a typo misspelling to my husband’s name but no biggie as that had happened before. I joked to him that I must be going with someone else. A quick calendar check and discussion with my husband showed a conflict for the night in question so attending was a mute point. As the date in question was several weeks away, there was plenty of time to get back to the sender on the following Monday morning. Off we went to the night’s Black Tie fundraiser for a local hospital; an evening that allowed us to not only support a charity but catch-up with friends. Just as I was about to sit at my table in the beautifully decorated, truly elegant event space, I spotted the sender of the afternoon’s email as she made a B line straight towards me. It occurred to me how flattering it was to be sought out and ‘in demand’. The usual niceties ensued - hello, how are you…you look lovely…Then, incredulously she said and I quote, “Oh, I sent you an email today but just ignore it.” Whoa. Firstly, almost everybody has a Blackberry which they check fairly often and usually open an email from someone they know. What are the chances that I wouldn’t have opened my email? You’re right - practically nil given that 7 hours had passed. My mouth dropped open and I managed to reply somewhat slowly, “Okay”. Not only was the joke about my husband not being invited true but apparently I wasn’t supposed to be invited either. Such Gaul! Such rudeness! Such poor form! Such a loser! I was so shocked at the absurdness of the whole bizarre episode that all I could do was laugh.

charity events

That is remarkably foolish. I have a friend who invites me to expensive fund raisers and is ticked off because I do not attend. What about being invited to people's homes for an expensive fund raiser when you have never been over even for tea!

getting dissed

Suffice it to say, that the sender of the e-mail without a doubt, was raised by a mother with no class!!!Well done writting about this very experience, as we have all unfortunatley, encountered such a declassee person before. I laugh with you and at this rude woman!!!!
