Michael Jackson Makes Auctioneers "Beat It"

You'd think he'd be upset after having nearly 2000 collectibles and souvenirs evacuated from Neverland Ranch, but it turns out MJ doesn't mind. Because although the property may have new owners, and his money woes are still rampant, at least he gets to keep proprietorship of all his crazy things.

As of April 15th, at a second hearing on the matter, a previous contractual arrangement concerning Jackson's manager was found to not cover the necessary rights needed to sell off MJ's items as proposed, thus the auction's cancelation in MJ's favour.

Other items that would have been on bid were his Rolls-Royce Stretch limo, pictures of Peter Pan, portraits of himself, sequined costumes, a large red throne, a King's cape and crown (each sold seperately), the actual gates to Neverland Ranch and various single gloves worn by MJ, including the one from "Billie Jean".

Now, I don't mean to sound like a cold person, but my problem with this whole scenario is that I can't help but want to glove-slap him for keeping it all --the "priceless and irreplaceable items" with "extraordinary sentimental value". Mostly because I don't believe in living to that degree of excess.

I mean, sure. Keep a few momentos. But seriously, who needs to own a life size replica of a Power Ranger?

Not to mention the fact that it's A LOT of stuff to keep, especially now with the spacious ranch no longer in his custody. If I was as financially unstable as Mr. Jackson right now, keeping such petty materialistic things just wouldn't sound feasible to me. Opening my mind, I think in that in this case, it all comes down to a conflict of personal values between memorabilia and memories.

But for the $10+ million the junk was estimated to fetch on bid, don't tell me you'd not eventually opt for the minimalist's choice too.

Wacko Jacko's collectibles and souvenirs are currently on exhibition in Beverly Hills.
