Travelling in Europe as a tour guide for the last few years as taught me many things. Yes, I hold a huge amount of gratitude for the opportunity to have met so many incredible people. Also the unique ability to have experienced unique cultures and of course been " in awe" of the breathtaking scenery. I think of the big touristy things I have experienced such as Michelangelo's "David" in Firenze, The "Winged Victory" in the Louvre, walking the walls in the city of Dubrovnik and so much more. At the time of travelling you tend to be rushing to the next place, scheduling and sometimes experiencing unexpected surprizes.
When I sit back and reflect on my adventures I often think back to the little things. What really stands out to me in my travels has been the chance to really take in everything around me-"be here now" moments. Sitting in a cafe in the Campo of Sienna enjoying a chocolate fondue, fresh fruit, delicious local wine, chatting , laughing, experiencing with friends all the splendor around you. Visiting a local deli, yummy antipastas, fresh breads, cheeses, local meats. Hiking to that perfect spot in the mountains, revelling in the magnificence of beauty. I love taking the side streets exploring the decor and history, you never know what you will stumble upon, that local treasure full of delacies. Ultimately, I treasure those little pockets, those little moments of pleasure that can never be duplicated. Those moments of being here now, and taking in all that is with you at that precise moment. These gifts are priceless. By filling your life with these little bits of recognized time you can truly make a difference in the enrichment of your life. Helen Keller Said " Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all"
Enjoy all the adventures, big and small!
