A 20-something intern at Women’s Post who loves food, chronicling her way through the world of working out and the 30 Day Shred.
This blog will encompass the Shred activities of last Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Days 6 to 9 blogs). Also included is yesterday’s blog which, due to some archiving activities at Women’s Post, was delayed. Here’s a recap of the last four days and my foray into Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred:
Friday: To shred or not to shred (Day 6)
On Friday, I went out and had a life outside exercising. So technically, if we’re going to be technical, I did not do the shred that night. My plan was to do an extra 20 minutes on Saturday, but as you’re about to see, that did not happen.
Saturday: I can’t do it no more (Day 7)
This was a tough day. I don’t know why, maybe it was the temperature change (I was working out during the day rather than night) or that I had missed Friday, but I could barely get through level one. I was huffing and puffing through the whole thing. I also did the unthinkable – I clicked pause and rested for 5 minutes. This is a no-no as far as Jillian is concerned. But I did restart the DVD and ended up doing the entire 20 minutes. I didn’t make up for Friday though. I figure it was a casualty of me having a social life and it needed to be left behind.
Sunday: The day that was (Day 8)
As I’m writing this recap, I honestly don’t even remember Sunday. I did do the Shred but nothing major to report. I guess that’s a good thing? It means I wasn’t dying, no?
Monday: Lift Me Up (Day 9)
In the first circuit, you have to do pushups for one minute, split into two parts. And guess what? As someone who has no upper body strength, I finally made it through the 30 seconds! I actually did pushups the entire time. Granted, they were the girl pushups that you do on your knees but considering I couldn’t do more than five last week, I think this is a major improvement, people.
I don't feel like I've lost weight or anything yet but I can definitely feel some sort muscle-like fiber-like content forming in my arms and legs. I'm hoping that starting Day 10, when I have to switch to level 2, I'll start shedding something.
Note: The blogs are a day ahead, meaning Day 6 blog is about the fifth workout, Day 7 blog is about the sixth workout, and so on. In case people are confused. It happened because my first blog, Shredding it: Day 1, was a little intro prior to the first workout. I probably should have just called it the Intro. We're all smart cookies though. We all get it, right?
