Hong Kong Collection by O.P.I

O.P.I never fails when bringing the most eccentric colours into their palette as well as giving them artistic and creative names. For the Spring/Summer of 2010, the Hong Kong Collection by OPI is the complete definition of edgy - with inspiration from the contrasts of the city’s own lights.

The motto of this season’s collection is “A Little Fashion Feng Shui.” Feng Shui - pronounced fung-shway - means “wind” and “water.” This refers to our personal energies as well as the energy of the environment around us.

According to feng shui, colours have powers, therefore every colour is associated to one of the five elements of life: Water, fire, earth, metal, and wood. With reference to the elements of life, colours are considered either “yin” or “yang." While yin colours bring out a sense of healing and calm, yang colours provide light to enhance your energy and motivate you.

O.P.I has given the colours of the Hong Kong Collection “fashion feng shui” power which results in the perfect harmony for every happy fashionista.

The orange and red shades of the collection are all yang colours of the fire element as they represent warmth, high energy, and creativity, raising definite attention. In keeping with their original names, “Hot and Spicy” (coral) and “Red My Fortune Cookie” (red), you will surely be asserting your confidence.

While shifted towards more darker, cool colours, the green and brown shades of the collection express the wood element of life that conveys vitality and growth. Again with imaginative names such as “Jade is the New Black” (green) and “Chop-sticking to My Story” (brown), you have the ability to express your spirited trend-setting side.

If you are interested in representing a shade of clarity and purity, the whites and golds will certainly reflect your taste. “Pearl of Wisdom” (white) and “Bling Dynasty” (gold) express the element of metal with their shimmer and sparkle.

Are you in love? Are you looking for love? Either way, the Hong Kong Collection offers a soft, girlish light pink uniquely named “Panda-monium Pink” that allows you to express your feelings of love and affection.

Known for its properties of healing, lavenders, plums, and violets would be considered “yin” colours as they bring about your meditative side. With ingenious names such as “Lucky Lucky Lavender," “Dim Sum Plum,” and “Meet me on the Start Ferry” (violet), you have multiple shades to choose from when feeling calm and collective.

If you're looking for a combination of yin and yang, look no further than the ultimate shade named “Suzi Says Feng Shui,” which is a serene cobalt blue that essentially symbolizes the element of water.

Don’t let your beautiful nails go unpolished this spring and summer. Try out one of O.P.I Hong Kong Collection's exquisite shades inspired by the hot and edgy city.
