Flashing lights, long legs and a collection of creations made by the top designers of Canada must mean only one thing - LG Fashion Week. With this week long event being right around the corner, it’s time to get ready to see what Canadian designers have been working steadily at for this past year.
With those warm summer days swiftly coming into reach, those who are fashion challenged of the world could care less about what to wear next fall and winter. However, every fashionista and her BFF want to be in the know of what kind of wardrobe to rock for when the chilly months return, and what better place to find out than at LG Fashion Week.
For the past 12 years, LG Fashion Week has been an enormous success in promoting and sharing the talent of what the fashion designers of Canada have to offer. It is certainly a week anticipated by several Canadian women and men!
Hot models, exquisite clothing, after parties, complimentary beauty sessions and gift bags - how could this not be a week sent from heaven?
Some folks just getting into the designing mix and other’s whose veteran status has kept them high on their pedestal for many years will be present this year to boast their creations, and hope to market their brand to an even a higher rank of success.
A new face to the LG Fashion scene this year, Naana Tennachie Yankey, is the brains behind the brand Cocolily, introduced only a mere ten months ago. Born in Ghana, West Africa, and with a childhood spent in the United Kingdom and Holland, there is no doubt that she has a diverse range of design styles that readily contributed to her collection. With royal inspirations of Marie Antoinette and the Ladies of Tudor Court, you can expect to be blown away by embellished detailing and lavish fabrics.
With gears shifted towards those who are familiar with the extraordinary events of LG Fashion Week, there are many Canadian designers returning for their 3rd and 4th years at LG. With that said, Kimberley Newport-Mimran, the glory behind her famous Pink Tartan brand never fails to disappoint her followers as she is making yet another appearance at this years Fashion Week.
Looking for chic sportswear? Well look no further! Everything you could possibly want in comfort and style is consistently delivered by Kimberley year after year. The concept of Pink Tartan was created in 2002 after the birth of her daughter. Kim’s personal style is a perfect reflection of her brand – polished, elegant, and of course pretty. She ultimately designs for her self – “I take a simple approach- If it fits me and makes me feel good, then I know my customer will love it too.” Recently having been named Canada’s most stylish couple with her husband and business partner Joseph Mimran who is the original founder of Club Monaco and currently the mastermind behind Joe Fresh Style, they are certainly a power couple with style and enormous success.
With the hopes of furthering my own career into the hectic and exhilarating world of fashion, I will certainly be attending a couple of shows and will also be getting my hair did – complimentary of course! I will be back to blog all about it! Stay tuned ladies and gents!
