I too dream of Tuscany

I have just read and thoroughly enjoyed, Darlene Christianson's blog on Tuscany.
A place I have always wanted to go, I have now re-newed my vow to make it happen one day.
Funnily enough, I have just laughed my way through, Tuscan Soup by Lou Wakefield. A work of fiction and not something I would normally read, but convalescing back in England I crave anything in print that I can get my hands on. Forever a Brit at heart, I connected with so many of the characters in this story. All with their own; sometimes hilarious idiosyncrasies The protagonist totally transforms and re-invents herself, (who of us on occasion has not wanted to do that!) whilst on holiday in Tuscany. She rents a motorbike and immerses herself in the beautiful architecture, art, culinary delights and romance of Italy as she tours the rolling hills. I was suddenly, younger, braver, and lighter of mind and body as I roared through this story. I was transported there with her, only I have to be honest and say that I was on a Vespa instead of a motorbike. I could never be quite that brave!
I have certainly read books that are better written, deeper etc, but stories like this teach me not to take myself or my life quite so seriously.
