Everyday when I walk into our Women's Post offices, which are now located at Workplace One (51 Wolseley Street) it feels like coming home. It is one of the shared office spaces that are cropping up all over the city. The building is an old renovated warehouse with each floor divided into glass walled offices with huge windows allowing the morning sunlight to stream into every corner.
Some offices are small with just one desk, while others fit two, three and even four desks. We have one of the bigger offices on the third floor and may need to expand even further in the next month or two as our business is growing quickly with more and more interns coming to us for training. Each floor has a small kitchen and washrooms at the back end with a breakout meeting area for quick impromptu meetings.
The ground floor has open tables for our interns to occasionally work at, and comfortable seating arrangements to meet with clients, with a small and large boardroom there as well. Workplace One provides everything from wireless internet, to a phone system, fully stocked printer, hot coffee and a terrific atmosphere.
But what I like most about the space are the people, both those who run it (Chandler Rumble and Adrian Wong) and the entrepreneurs who work there. Yesterday I was stopped in the hall and asked to try out a surgical grip that a young entrepreneur needed to test on small hands. It is the conversations between entrepreneurs in the stairwell, kitchen, or hallway that makes this creative space fantastic.
We held our first Toronto Town Hall event on the ground floor there this week and it was a huge success. I want to thank Chandler and Adrian for helping us organize the event and donating the space at Workplace One to this very worthy initiative. With their help we raised over $1500 in ticket sales to donate to Evas Initiaitives, Rabit and Food Forward. So if you are looking for office space and want a creative warm and friendly environment Workplace One on Wolseley street is just the place.
