Hey everyone!
So today is THE day - elections finally (at least for those who haven't voted in advance). My building's polling station opened at 9.30am this morning, and I was waiting around until it opened so came into work a bit late this morning, but I really didn't want to put it off!
Now I know we are all busy, have long days and are tired after work etc etc - but I do encourage (URGE) you to go VOTE!
Not participating in our system is submitting power to the most active - and those people are not necessarily working in YOUR interests! Even if there is no standout candidate, and you don't fully side with any party, and you just can't be bothered, participating is SO important.
This is a democratic country, and each of its citizens count towards making the whole. The individual is important, their vote is important, and for this reason -- you know what I'm going to say next don't you -- take that extra time to go DO IT.
Plus, its kind of fun you know....going behind the cardboard screen and knowing that the small action of marking an 'X' can have real and measurable impact on your life for years to come.
And those are all the things I have to say - bye for now!
