Baywatch of the 21st Century

Transformer 2: Revenge of the Fallen opened last Wednesday with an overwhelming success. I saw it with my friend on Saturday night. We both thought it was decent, although our judgments may have been impaired considering the only reason we were excited to see it, though embarrassing, was because of Mr. LaBeouf. Case in point: during the extreme robot fight scenes, when Shia was not on the screen, we were both extremely bored.
Although that was embarrassing to say it is true. Just like how Michael Bay decided that the first seen with Megan Fox should have her on top of a motorcycle wearing almost nothing. He also choose his demographic. Instead of gearing the movie towards boys with an unusual interest in cars that transform into robots, he got the attention of young high school student with scenes that have Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox running in slow motion. It’s like watching Baywatch circa 1989. Let me also mention how unrealistic this chase scene is in which Megan’s character is wearing a tank top to run away from destructive robots. The costume designers really thought that one through.
Bay clearly gave us what we expected which in turn makes it only descent for me.
