Penny for Your Thoughts (TTC)

February 8, 2010 - 12:51pm — by Adam Mazerall

Gary Webster, General Manager of the TTC, sent a memo out to staff over the weekend, basically issuing an ultimatum for employees to start adhering to the standards in place. Webster wrote of his getting “increasingly tired of defending the reputation of the TTC.” He also spoke to his exasperation over constantly having to explain “what is acceptable and what is not.”

I Am Officially a Twit

February 7, 2010 - 12:33pm — by Adam Mazerall

I never thought I'd see this day. I...have joined...Twitter (gasp).

Like my colleague Joelle Litt (who's recent posting Twitter me do, Twitter me don't reflected my own feelings toward this 140 character craze) I just didn't see the point or need to be on Twitter. I was easily accessible by phone, two eMail accounts as well, and anyone I consider a friend even knows where I live.

Well on Friday, while I was under the influence - and unfortunately I don't mean alcohol, because at least that would justify my actions - I joined Twitter and became a "Tweep."

My press launch

January 29, 2010 - 6:12pm — by Sarah Thomson

The launch on Tuesday was a terrific success. My team did a great job and we’re still answering emails and calls of support. I knew people would like my platform but I didn’t expect such an overwhelming wave of support.

But I have to admit the best moment wasn’t having the cameras and lights on me, but came in the moments just afterward when my husband whispered in my ear that he was proud of me. I'll continue to climb mountains just so I can hear those words from him. Love can conquer all…

The World is Broken

January 25, 2010 - 7:02am — by Randy Taylor

For over twenty years I was provided with a radio microphone from which to debate and argue; pontificate and surmize. I don't miss it. The combative nature of the business that is. One thing that I came to know over the weekend however was that my emotions and their connection to what goes on around me are still very much intact. I spent much of the weekend angry and sad. Disturbed and motivated. Shocked and furious.

Running for Mayor of Toronto: Step 2

January 9, 2010 - 12:13am — by Sarah Thomson

I've spent the past few months studying the challenges facing Toronto. I have learned the issues, met and had discussions with lawyers, doctors, business owners, bankers, politicians, and cab drivers. I found that most people love this city, but they worry about the fact that businesses are leaving and our city run services are getting worse.

Over the last two weeks I have worked with policy advisors and developed a unique platform that reflects what the people of Toronto want to see changed...and there are a lot of changes.
