April 21, 2009 - 8:15pm — by Schreecher
Madonna trots around on her horse in the Hamptons does a humpty dumpty and it's all over the news. Then plump and dowdy Susan Boyle -- "Simon's Spinster" -- gets on Britains Got Talent, shocking everyone with her rendition of Dreams from Les Miserables.

Hot. Lesbian. Action.

No mothers.

Yes, folks, this is not about Fringe-turned-Mirvish hit My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding (though it is a fab show – go see it) – it’s about the New Ideas Festival Week Two play Soledad.

Blogging and Mc Luhan? Really?

February 18, 2010 - 5:17pm — by Solange des Vignes

Blogging seems to be the craze. Everyone and their little sister seem to have a blog. I must admit that yes I do indeed have my own personal blog that I started a few months back. However, I did not start a blog intending to seriously inform anyone about the up and coming trends of the world. I don’t solely write about celebrities, gossip, fashion, politics, news, events or entertainment: all avenues that are over saturated in my opinion. I started my blog as a storage spot for my work and then sometimes contributing my thoughts and feelings on any given day.

I Am Officially a Twit

February 7, 2010 - 12:33pm — by Adam Mazerall

I never thought I'd see this day. I...have joined...Twitter (gasp).

Like my colleague Joelle Litt (who's recent posting Twitter me do, Twitter me don't reflected my own feelings toward this 140 character craze) I just didn't see the point or need to be on Twitter. I was easily accessible by phone, two eMail accounts as well, and anyone I consider a friend even knows where I live.

Well on Friday, while I was under the influence - and unfortunately I don't mean alcohol, because at least that would justify my actions - I joined Twitter and became a "Tweep."

All The Single Ladies

February 1, 2010 - 1:03pm — by Jessica Rosciglione

Beyoncé, who broke the record for the most wins by a female artist in one night, certainly captured the zeitgeist of the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards with her album “I am…Sasha Fierce. Beyoncé’s alter ego “Sasha Fierce” seems to capture the all the necessary components of becoming a talented and famous artist without resorting to sordid tactics such as sex tapes, rehab stints, and well photographed bitch fights. Sasha Fierce represents the sensual, outspoken and glamorous side of Beyoncé, something which all our Grammy-winning ladies seem to posses.

A marvelous opening night!

Alumnae Theatre's Hay Fever production experience in general can be summed up in this hilariously insightful dialogue exchange from the film Shakespeare in Love, which I saw on t.v. during the holiday (also, thanks to co-producer/marketing director Tina McCulloch for reminding me of this):

"Allow me to explain about the theatre business. The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster."
"So what do we do?"
"Nothing. Strangely enough, it all turns out well."
"How?"
"I don't know. It's a mystery."
