Soldier of Love

January 8, 2010 - 1:35pm — by Amalia Del Cid

For those of you who have longed to hear more creations by Sade,The wait is almost over! Releasing a new album titled 'Soldier of Love' in February, this group has everyone anticipating what new masterpieces they've come up with next. As said on Pitchfork.com "Their sound is singular, their familiar style so strong that any one track feels as if it could have been recorded during any period of the group's history, a meaningful timelessness that allows minor renovations to feel like revelations."

Editor's Choice Blog: My New Musical Obsession: Daniel Merriweather

October 26, 2009 - 3:16pm — by Miranda Voth

Music is a huge, huge, gigantic part of my daily life. I don't leave my house without my mp3 player, and I can't put on my makeup in the morning without singing along with someone!

Naturally, while I was on the hunt for goodies to put in the gift bags for theSony Style Fashion Show & Market, I knew I needed some tunes to add. I just didn't know what would appeal to the Women's Post demographic.

A friend of mine introduced me to Daniel Marriweather. She invited me to the show and I couldn't make it. BOY do I regret missing it now!

Wild, Wild (Kanye) West

October 20, 2009 - 11:53am — by Amanda-Marie Quintino

And just when we thought Kanye West couldn't be any more of, as U.S. President Barack Obama so aptly put it, "a jackass," he proves the general public wrong.

In the spirit of Spike Jonze's latest release on the big screen, an adaptation of Maurice Sendak's children's book "Where the Wild Things Are," West got a little wild himself and enlisted the help of Jonze to make a very in-your-face point to fans and foes alike.

Is hip-hop homophobic? The rise of "no homo."

October 19, 2009 - 10:21pm — by Andrea Benotas

I've always been an avid listener of hip-hop music. Ever since I was introduced to the likes of Notorious B.I.G. and Missy Elliott when I was only about 10 years old by a friends' older brother, I haven't been able to shake my affinity for the genre. I don't know what attracted me to rap and hip-hop music then, but I'd venture to say it's the clever puns, play on words, and genius manipulation of language prevalent in lyricist hip-hop that continues to fascinate me in the present.

Chris Brown Apologizes To Fans For Beating

July 21, 2009 - 9:19am — by Katie Solakofski

Five months ago Chris Brown and Rihanna stole headlines with their pre-Grammy domestic dispute. Pictures circled for ages of Rihanna’s bruised and battered face, and there were a number of public announcements. Then the hype sort of died away. But once again people have started taking sides, rooting for, or against Chris Brown now that he has released his public apology.

Money, hunny!

You’ve been told we’re in a recession. Everyone’s been told we’re in a recession. So even though everyone knows there’s this big, nasty recession going on, the first thing people did when the LCBO even so much as whispered the word strike, was to run, green grocery bags in hand, to stock up. Times may be tough, but not as tough as they could be if everyone was forced into instant, cold turkey AA.

Lambert Steals The Show

July 6, 2009 - 9:34am — by Katie Solakofski

After a weekend almost free of Michael Jackson talk as Wimbledon took over people's interest, he's made it back to the top of things to talk about.

But I'm not about to write another blog about MJ, while Adam Lambert and the kickoff of the Idol: Season 8 tour is slowly creeping up in popular things to be talking about.
