Buying vitamins at a store can be an overwhelming experience. Often there are too many choices, seemingly an endless supply of different brands. Picking the right vitamin(s) to suit your lifestyle can be a daunting task, not to mention time consuming.
Koge Vitamins, a Toronto startup company founded by Andrew Lenjosek and Alex Hyseen, two young business grads, has the answer to helping consumers make the right choices in buying vitamins. Their mission is to make it a personal experience delivered right to your door.
“I left my job as a successful investment banker on Wall Street because I wasn’t impacting others. ”
Lenjosek and his partner Hyseen, a former sales analyst, followed their passion to start their own vitamin company. He notes, “It was over a year of not paying ourselves, it wasn’t easy at first.” Their hard work is paying off, as they were ready to launch last month in the US.
In a phone interview from his Toronto office, 23 year-old Lenjosek says, “We want to make vitamins a more personalized experience and to also to make sure we give a high quality product with no artificial ingredients. We have our own manufacturing facility which is cheaper.” He further explains, “It’s about buying vitamins, making it a personal experience and customizing vitamin packages at a lower cost than the retail stores.”
Since the company launched in February 2013, the team has grown from two employees to eight. “We work with a group of PhDs that are chemists, naturopaths and doctors,” says Lenjosek. It wasn’t long before their company’s social media campaign became a successful one, adding more than 10,000 people to their sign-up list through their company website. The feedback was huge and they received a lot of company support.
Instead of selling hundreds of vitamin products, they thought it made more sense to sell it in packages. If you are interested in energy or weight management, for example, they will put together a package of the five best vitamins so you get the holistic benefits you want without having to do all the research.
For a monthly subscription, customers can choose from four individual daily regimens:
- Daily Essentials — Two Multivitamins and one Omega-3.
- The Antioxidant Collection — One grape seed extract with resveratrol, one selenomethioine and one coenzyme Q-10 with L-taurine.
- Weight Management — Four conjugated linoleic acids and one green tea extract.
- Energy Pack — One coenzyme Q-10 with L-taurine, one guarana, one ayur Indian ginseng and one Korean ginseng.
Lenjosek and Hyseen are definitely making a difference in the way consumers should buy vitamins. Not only that, Lenjosek and Hyseen are striving to use their company’s success to make a positive impact on the world.
Lenjosek says, “I am very much interested in helping people. With every purchase we will donate vitamin A to malnutrition children in Africa.” He believes it should be available to everyone in the world.
