Women's Post Contributor Anastasia is a TV/new media producer, host, journalist, and saucy minx and is best known for her shows Your GEEK News, Capricast, Naked Wine Show, and Your Greek News. She is also a new edition to the Women's Post staff. Anastasia is a proud Torontonian and a graduate of Ryerson University’s Journalism program. She specialized in Television Broadcast, which, combined with her writing for tech publication Web Host Industry Review, led her into the field of New Media/Online Journalism. Anticipating the popularity of web video – hot on the heels of the birth of YouTube - in 2005 Anastasia helped launch one of the first weekly video podcasts on the web, WHIRtv, fulfilling the roles of host and producer. A year later, Anastasia launched Your Greek News, a video podcast for the Hellenic Community abroad, where she produced and hosted the weekly show. As Anastasia’s concept, she has taken Your Greek News from a web show to a full-fledged Television program, and it can now be seen airing 30-minute episodes on MEGA Cosmos Canada, where it represents the Canadian Content for the station. In 2007, Anastasia launched BSGcast, the definitive Battlestar Galactica aftershow, and Your GEEK News, the award-winning entertainment news web series as co-host and producer. She also joined the Naked Wine Show as producer in 2008, which recently won a 2010 Tasty Award. Anastasia has contributed as a reporter and co-host the Globe and Mail, Webnation on CP24, Woman.ca, Chic Galleria, Karmacake.ca, G4TechTV’s Call for Help, The Mississauga Independent Film Festival, and The Auction Network. As an interview aficionado, Anastasia has also had the pleasure of chatting to Hollywood actors, C-Level executives, and Tech personalities including Marina Sirtis (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Mary McDonnell (Battlestar Galactica and Oscar nominee for Dances with Wolves), Christine Cushing (Food Network), Jimmy Wales (co-founder of Wikipedia), and Matt Mullenweg (founder of Wordpress.) Anastasia speaks four languages, is a classically trained pianist, an avid reader of memoirs, a hot yoga addict, and loves to travel and experience different cultures firsthand. She completed her first half-marathon in October 2009 and has become an unofficial spokesperson for Flip ever since it helped her document her month-long spicy adventure across India, which is now being developed into an international travel show.
