Tania LaCaria

Tania LaCaria is an award-winning Interior Designer and Decorator from Toronto, Canada. Armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University and a CIDA-certified Advanced Diploma in Interior Design from Sheridan College, Tania quickly became a sought-after design and decor consultant within the Greater Toronto Area. Before breaking out on her own and launching TLC Design & Decor (www.tanialacariadesign.com), Tania worked with some of the biggest names in the Canadian design industry, including II x IV Design Associates and Kimberley Seldon Design Group. She has been a guest speaker on a panel discussion about Home Office Design for the Courage to Lead event hosted by Women’s Post where she offered her advice on home office furniture arrangement, lighting and decorating tips. Tania's passion for all things design is rivaled by her deep love for travel. Learning about different cultures has always appealed to Tania and is one of the main reasons why she finally worked up the courage to embark on a three month long adventure through South East Asia. Armed with nothing but her own wit and a 10 kilo backpack, Tania fully immersed herself in the local cultures she encountered to every extent possible. She loved trying new things (despite her sub-conscious aversion to change) even if it meant having to eat a boiled chrysalis in Cambodia or sleep on an overnight Vietnamese bunker bus without air conditioning for 11 consecutive hours. Tania returned from her trip with a deeper sense of self-awareness and an invaluable appreciation for the way people around the world choose to live their lives. Tania continues to travel often and has dedicated her (limited) free time to a design-based travel blog where she recounts interesting (or revolting) design and decorating solutions that she's encountered around the world. Whether she is writing about the squatter toilets in Southern Thailand or the impressive waterfront skyline in Panama where she is currently living, Tania is happy to share her opinions on global design with anyone who is willing to read them on Passport2Design.com.
